    The Monarch

The Monarch was built in 1980 by Frederick Kindred who built many other historic buildings in Tumut that have stood the test of time like All Saints Anglican Church which is just around the corner from the Monarch. The house is surrounded by beautiful gardens and centrally located to be within a short walk from either the cafes, shops and restaurants in one direction, or the iconic old bridge, river and wetlands in the other direction.

  • Main bedroom

The main bedroom is tucked away in a quiet area of the house, you will be fully relaxed with a queen bed, vintage softwash Canningvale linen, a decorative fireplace (non working), chandelier and storage for your luggage.

  • Ensuite

Take a step up into the modern ensuite containing a large vanity, spa bath (big enough for two or to bath the children), large shower, toilet, luxury L’Occitane toiletries and heated towel rail. The bath is just the place to relax after a big day exploring the Snowy Valleys.

    Kitchen

Even though you are a short stroll from cafes, restaurants and pubs, you might want to stay in and cook up a meal in the fully equipped kitchen. The kitchen has everything you will need during your stay including tea/coffee/hot chocolate supplies, gas cooktop, electric oven, dishwasher, full size fridge, microwave, and plenty of plates, mugs, cups, wine glasses and pots and pans. There are also four bar stools so you will always have company in the kitchen while you enjoy the open plan area.

    Dining room

In the light filled dining room, under the chandelier is a dining table that can accommodate eight. There is room also for the highchair if needed and with the tiled floor, a little mess won’t matter! While you dine and tell stories or play a game around the table, you can listen to the records that are supplied (it’s an eclectic mix!) for the turntable. Meal times at the Monarch are a real vibe.

    Lounge area

The lounge area is large and comfortable. Featuring a large corner lounge with a chaise, soft rug, and a coffee table in front of the gas log fireplace (or under the aircon - depending on the season), you can enjoy watching Netflix or relax on the large ottoman and watch the clouds roll by through the glass roof. Plenty of room for everyone.

    Atrium

We are guessing that you have not stayed somewhere like the Monarch before. The vast glass atrium really has to be seen to be appreciated fully. It is such a treat to watch the clouds roll over, the birds fly past or be lucky enough to catch a storm roll in. In winter the warmth is appreciated and in summer the ducted air conditioning makes the area comfortable.

    Main bathroom

A vanity and shower for two are features of the large main bathroom. Quality L’Occitane toiletries, fluffy towels and a hair dryer - what more could you need?

    Laundry

We have a fully equipped laundry for you to use during your stay, including washing powder. We have a washing machine and dryer, clothes airer for inside if needed, plus a clothes line in the carport and a large airer to move into the sun.

    Outside

Outside you will find just the place for breakfast in the sun, a large Weber BBQ and manicured gardens. There is plenty of bird life and it is just the spot to catch the sunrise if you are not up for a walk down to the old bridge (our favourite sunrise spot).

    Parking

Undercover off street parking for two cars is available at the rear of the property (just drive straight up the driveway). You are then able to reverse back and drive straight out (the driveway is a little narrow but quite manageable). We do advise if you have a low car, to take the driveway at an angle.

    Location

When we say we are centrally located, we really mean it. A five minute walk left out the gate will take you to shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants. A five minute walk right out the gate will take you to the old Tumut bridge and a walking track that will take you along the river to the wetlands walk or to parks for the children in the other direction. The Tumut swimming pool is also just around the corner for some summer fun.
