Things to do in Tumut, in the Snowy Valleys.

Where is Tumut? It’s a little hidden gem tucked in the Snowy Valleys region. Tumut is approximately 410 km south-west of Sydney, 525 km north-east of Melbourne and 180 km from Canberra. An easy drive from either direction by following the Hume Highway. The Monarch is located right in the heart of town and perfectly positioned to be a two minute walk from the river or two minutes from supermarkets, restaurants, cafes and shops.

Tumut is the gateway to Kosciuszko National Park and the Snowy Mountains. We have four distinct seasons and so much to do and so many places to explore in each season.

We have several beautiful small towns nearby to explore: Adelong, Gundagai, Talbingo, Jugiong, Tumbarumba, Tooma, and many more.

Location

The Monarch is in Wynyard Street which by country town standard is in ‘the main street’. If you want to explore Tumut on foot, turn left out the gate and the shops and restaurants are a two minute stroll or a right turn will take you down to the picturesque Tumut River, the iconic 160 year old bridge, walking trails and parks.
