• The Monarch is in Tumut. Where is Tumut? It’s tucked in the Snowy Valleys region of NSW. Tumut is approximately 410 km south-west of Sydney, 525 km north-east of Melbourne and 180 km from Canberra. An easy drive from either direction by following the Hume Highway. The Monarch is located a two minute walk from the river or two minutes in the other direction will lead you to supermarkets, restaurants, cafes and shops.

  • The Monarch sleeps 6 comfortably. We can accommodate extra guests on the sofabed in the sitting room. The sofa bed is a double and really only suitable for an extra adult or two children. Please let us know when you book if you require the sofabed and we can add the charge to your booking of $75 per night. We can also supply a portable cot and linen and we have a highchair and facilities for children.

  • We believe you need at least two nights to get a taste of what the Snowy Valleys has to offer. We also think to get the full experience of staying at the house you need at least two nights to fully wind down, relax and explore. A two night stay gives you time to cook a gourmet meal using local produce, star-gaze through the glass atrium, play the provided board games with loved ones, curl up on the lounge and read a book, or dance around the kitchen to a record on the record player.

  • Of course! The best part about The Monarch is that there is room for the whole family to enjoy. We can provide a portable cot with linen and a high chair, just let us know when booking. We also have books and toys to keep little people busy during their stay.

  • The house has three bedrooms. The main bedroom has a queen sized bed and ensuite. There is also a sitting room attached to the main bedroom with a sofa bed that can be made up at an extra fee, please let us know when booking if this is required.

    The second bedroom also has a queen sized bed and a beautiful bay window overlooking Bila Park.

    The third bedroom has two king single beds.

  • We will be in contact via email at least 24 hours prior to your stay with the information to check in including the entry code. It is a self-check in process with a keypad entry.

    No parties or events although we are happy to let you host a small event (eg, a small celebration or catching up with family) at the Monarch as long as the type of event is communicated to us. The Monarch is suitable for high teas, dinner parties, and other small gatherings. We do respect our neighbours and we ask that any noise is kept to minimum after 10pm.

  • We understand that life doesn't always go to plan. In the event that you need to cancel, we will refund you in full if you cancel with more than 14 days notice. In the event that you need to cancel less than 14 days from your booking, we will refund you less 50%. We aim to be fair and ask you to discuss your situation with us to communicate a fair arrangement.

  • Unfortunately no. The Monarch is suitable for humans of all ages but not pets sorry.

  • We have undercover parking available for two cars and street parking is also available. Our driveway is a little narrow and we suggest if you have a small vehicle that is low to the ground that you enter the driveway on an angle so you don’t scrape.

  • Whilst The Monarch is large and open plan, it is a heritage home and unfortunately there are some barriers to it being made 100% accessible. We have ramps that we can put out for ease of entry, and we do have some items that could help you during your stay if you do have mobility issues. Please contact us if you have specific requirements that we might be able to help with or if you would like further details on steps/door widths etc. We will do our best to help and accommodate everyone. We have a floor plan as part of our photo gallery to help you prepare for your stay.

  • If you click here it will take you to our online booking system. You will be able to see availability and book and pay your deposit instantly. The balance of your payment will automatically be taken 7 days prior to your stay.

  • You will need to request your cancellation through the booking channel that you originally made your booking with (eg. direct with us through our website, with VRBO/Stayz, AIRBNB or Trip advisor etc).

  • When you book The Monarch, you are booking the whole house and enjoy total privacy just for you and or your family and friends. We don’t book out individual rooms. The price is for the whole house, the only extra charge is if you need the sofa bed made up.

  • Yes we can. If you are planning on celebrating something special we can certainly help. We have local vendors who we can engage to help you have the best experience possible during your stay. Please send us an email if you have something in mind.

  • Yes, our local Woolworths store delivers. If you let us know that you are expecting a delivery, we can put the shopping away for you prior to your arrival. Please don’t organise for anything to be delivered prior to 10am on your arrival day as we may have guests that will be packing up to leave.

  • Yes! You are 150m from cafes, pubs, restaurants and shops. The local Woolworths is 200m away and Coles is 400m.

  • Yes, all linen is supplied and all beds are made up. We will make up the portable cot if you let us know that you need it. The only extra charge will be for the sofa bed. Let us know when you book if you need the sofa bed and we can add the charge to your booking. We supply enough towels for everyone.

  • If you are staying for longer than 5 nights, we will come and change the beds for you and replenish the towels. We like people to enjoy the house in privacy so we won’t disturb you unless you request us to.

    You are welcome to wash towels during your stay and put them in the dryer, we just ask that you wash them separately in a hot wash so that they stay white.
